At Sea
ONGOING - AT SEA
2021
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected us all in different ways. It's amazing that something so isolating, is something that everyone has to face. I'm reminded of the constant flow and chaos of the ocean. Some have a strong and significant connection to it to the point of being drawn to it, yet others act like it's not even there. It surrounds us all, yet can so easily be forgotten.
I've used the ocean as my escape during an uncertain time. In doing so, I've been thrown into the arms or socially distant waves of those loved ones and close friends who have also used the ocean as an escape, whether directly or indirectly depending on their own relationship to it. A connecting force, in a time where we need it most.
At Sea is a process piece at heart as I explore the connective qualities of the ocean using it as my studio backdrop along with studio lighting and the need for its pull to bring me closer to those around me.
