EXPLORATION IN BLUE

2019

As a precursor to The Beginning of Glory, Exploration in Blue documents the people and areas of Greece and Albania at the base of my grandfather's fight for freedom from Communist Albania during World War II.

Alluding to travel guides and documentary photography of his era, I retraced his steps with my vintage Rolleiflex medium format film camera. The timeless format is subverted by the use of pop color mainly rooted in Mediterranean blue.

This personal journey brought me to relatives and landscapes in my grandfather's writing helping further connect us through a shared story.
